John Galliano the honorary chairman of Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden

The great fashion master is turning mentor. In September, Galliano will make a triumphant return to London Fashion Week, not as a designer, but as a talent scout. He’s taking over from Donatella Versace as the honorary chairman of Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden, and under his leadership the competition is changing. When the finalists take to the London Fashion Week catwalk in September, Galliano will be the sole judge and jury, and he isn’t looking for pedestrian talent. “I am hoping we find a rebel genius. I will look for someone who reminds me of me when I was starting out — someone original, unique, who has their own style and handwriting and isn’t afraid to try something new.”
